Bio
Coach Trotta has been involved in IND Athletics since the 1996/97 school year. At that time his sister Jennifer ('97)
was a senior on the basketball and softball teams. He spent the spring of 1997 assisting Head Softball Coach Greg
Ehrman,and he continues to assist Coach Ehrman on the softball field. Coach Trotta assisted
both the Varsity and JV basketball teams in 1997/98. He assisted the Varsity again during the 1998/99 season.
He then accepted a position position at Archbishop Spalding as the JV Girls Basketball Head Coach. He spent two years
as the JV coach under former IND Varsity coach Deb Taylor, now Spalding's Varsity coach. He led the team to the IAAM
JV Championship Game and a second place finish. He returned as the IND JV Basketball Head Coach in 2000/01. He
led a young team to a successful campaign that saw the first JV Basketball victory over rival Mercy in 8 years. He
continued to coach the JV for two more seasons. Coach Trotta also spent one season as the head coach of the Varsity
Cross Country team in the fall of 2000.
Coach Trotta teaches science and math at Archbishop Curleyafter four years of teaching math at IND. He is currently the
head of the Science Department at Curley. Prior to that,
he spent two years as a software engineer at Northrop Grumman. He graduated from Towson University in 1997 with a BS
in computer science and mathematics. He is a 1993 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School where he was a member
of the Varsity Basketball and Baseball teams. In his senior year he was named to the 1st Team All Baltimore City
Baseball Team by the Baltimore Sun. After high school he pitched for Mount St. Mary's College for a year before
transferring. During the summer he has competed as a player/coach for the Presstman Cardinals Unlimited Baseball
team competing against former major and minor league players.
In the fall of 2004, Coach Trotta helped found a fastpitch softball club team, the Maryland Comets. Based in the
Perry Hall and White Marsh areas, the Maryland Comets organization provides players with an opportunity to further develop
their skills beyond their high school team. Many players from IND's program have played for Coach Trotta's 16U team during
the summer.
