Welcome to IND's Athletics Web Site. It contains a lot of information about all of our sports teams.
Everything from schedules, directions, and rosters to our traditions and summer camps can be found on this site.
Whether you are a visitor looking to find out more about IND, one of our returning alumna checking on her alma mater,
or a current IND student or parent, there is plenty of useful information to be found.
Here at IND, interscholastic athletics are an important part in the educational experience of our students.
Sports are more than just an after school activity. Our student-athletes learn sportsmanship, working as part
of a team, commitment, dedication, and time management skills. In addition to enhancing their athletic skills, IND athletes enjoy the chance to make new friendships, experience the rewards of hard work and teamwork toward a goal,
learn to deal with successes and failures, and share in the pride of representing their school in athletic competition.
IND is a member of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland, known for short as the IAAM, which was created
for the advancement of women's athletics. The league consists of most of the all-girl and coed Catholic and private
schools in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The league spans an area from Frederick to Annapolis, and Laurel to Bel Air.
It offers some of the finest competition in the state. The league sponsors various levels of varsity
competition depending upon the competitiveness of its member schools. Most sports offer a junior varsity level of
competition as well.
In the fall, IND participates in Varsity and JV Soccer (A Conference), Varsity and JV Volleyball (B Conference),
Varsity Cross Country (A Conference), and Varsity and JV Field Hockey (B Conference). The winter sports include
Varsity and JV Basketball (A Conference) and Varsity Swimming (B Conference). The spring season consists of Varsity
Softball (A Conference),
Varsity and JV Lacrosse (B Conference), Varsity Golf (B Conference), Varsity Outdoor Track (B Conference), and Varsity
and JV
Badminton (A Conference).
In addition to the IAAM sanctioned sports, IND Athletics has a Varsity Cheerleading squad which has excelled
with strong showings at many local, regional, and national competitions. IND is one of a few local
schools, and the first Catholic high school, to field a Crew team. Our Varsity and Novice rowers
compete in both the fall and the spring and has participated in regattas from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia to
Richmond.
With 13 sports covering 20 teams, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with IND Athletics. If you
are not a player of a team, there are still plenty of ways to stay involved by serving as a Student Manager or coming
to our games as one of our loyal and vocal fans!
